DESCRIPTION:Hernando Fit Kids – Winter Break\nDecember 27-31\nThe goal of Hernando Fit Kids is to encourage physical activity and healthy eating habits in children ages 4-14 during school breaks- i.e., Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer. Data shows that during these breaks, children are less likely to engage in the recommended daily amount of physical activity and more likely to eat less nutritious foods.\nThrough the partnership with the Hernando County School District, an Eventbrite link is shared with parents of students in grades 7 and below. Once signed up, 3-4 videos are shared with parents each day via email on such topics as making healthy snacks at home, fun exercises in the backyard, and scavenger hunts in the neighborhood. Children are reminded to work at their ability level and completing the video with a parent is encouraged (though not necessary.) Closed captioning is available to provide access to the videos for those with hearing impairments and following feedback from the community, audible directions for those who may have visual impairments are being added to future videos.\nRegister your child for this free initiative at bit.ly/HernandoFitKidsWinterBreak2021\n
