Hillsborough I.D.E.A. Committee
The Hillsborough County I.D.E.A. Committee (Impaired Driving Education Awareness) was established to address driving under the influence (DUI) through targeted education, awareness campaigns, and collaborative enforcement efforts aimed at reducing DUI-related incidents in Hillsborough County. The committee was formed in Fall 2022 and has since served as a forum for coordinated planning and information sharing.
The committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month. Once each quarter, members meet in person at the Florida Department of Transportation headquarters in Tampa to collaborate, discuss strategies, share data, and brainstorm upcoming outreach and enforcement initiatives. The remaining monthly meetings are held virtually.
Participation includes representatives from a broad range of partner agencies, including the Florida Highway Patrol, Tampa Police Department, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Temple Terrace Police Department, University of South Florida Police Department, Zephyrhills Police Department, Tarpon Springs Police Department, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and the Tampa Alcohol Coalition.
